Merkurlautar-Kennel

Miniature-Schnauzer

Welcome to Merkurlautar-kennel

We own seven black Schnauzers, five females and two males. Two of the females are not for breeding purposes. Our dogs are our pets, they live with the family. Their litters we treat the same, as a part of the family.

The Beginning

Dogs have always been a big part of our lives. They have been our buddies, companions who give us immeasurable happiness and joy. When we got introduces to small breeds, in particular schnauzers, we looked into the possibility to import black miniature-schnauzers. At the time there were none in Iceland. We found Tino, he lived with wonderful people in Denmark who own i.e. his mother. He was raised as one of the family and it clearly shows. When he came to Iceland, he had to spend a long time in quarantine, but after that time allowed to be our beloved pet.

Breeding Goals

We have set our breeding goals to come as close to the standard description of the Miniature-Schnauzer as possible.

We want to keep breeding dogs with the beautiful harsh, wiry and black coat, i.e. litters from Perla and Tino.

Temperament is just as important when it comes to breeding, we intent to breed only from sweet, playful and energetic dogs. We believe that a happy, playful dog will bring his or her owner immeasurable enjoyment and happiness.

When it comes to size of the Schnauzer we always follow the standard description when breeding, though people tend to have different opinions on the shape and size of the Schnauzers.

Our opinion is that the dog chiefly has an overall correlation, looks proportionate. It is not our agenda to breed very small dogs. Addressing height, we find that approximately 33cm has looked best concerning breeding.

Above all, we want to continue on the road we have trod, breeding affectionate and beautiful Schnauzers.

We are not in the business of puppy-mill or overpopulate the market with Schnauzers.

Environment

Our dogs are in our home and have continuous contact with all of the family members and each other. They go regularly to our cottage, for visits, walks and meet new people. All the puppies born in our litters grow up in the same environment. They are used to travel in cars, meet new people and normal house activities.
