Grooming
Schnauzers have a harsh coat that needs constant grooming. Schnauzers have a coat that consists of a wool kind undercoat and harsh, wiry overcoat that forms a moisture repellent. Schnauzers are stripped and the undercoat needs to be raked regularly.
Before dog shows they have to be extra well groomed, best is to start ca two months before the show so the coat will be pristine, this can be dependent on the dogs coat. Harsher the coat, the better and easier it is groom.
The advantage of owning a dog you must groom is that there won’t be any shed hair all over the home and on clothes. The Schnauzer is one of the few breeds that don’t shed hair and can be recommended to people with dog allergy.
